The Bean Cleaner

On a recent break in Chicago, USA I could not help but photograph 'The Bean Cleaner'

The Bean, being a recent addition to Millennium Park off Michigan Avenue is one of the main attractions in the middle of this stunning city. I always wondered how and when they cleaned it. Now I know.........

Wedding at Dunfermline Abbey followed by Balbirnie House Hotel, Fife. Photography by Greg Forbes www.foto-fanatik.co.uk

On a stunning day in late April Carol and Ant could not have picked a better day. The historic setting of Dunfermline Abbey played the backdrop to the wedding while Balbirnie House Hotel in Markinch, Fife played host to the reception. I have enclosed a selection of the pictures from the day. Please contact Greg via my site http://www.foto-fanatik.co.uk/ if you like the photographs and want to enquire about my availability to photograph your wedding. I cover weddings all over Scotland and have some limited availability for 2009 and 2010.

The arrival of the bridesmaids is captured as they walk through Dunfermline Abbey.

In order to capture this lovely reportage shot just after the Bride and Groom had signed the wedding register I used an 'old fashioned' 35mm film camera. In the days of digital cameras this is not something I do often but I always have one on stand by for the right moment.
In reportage style of photography I've always got to be on the look out for action shots as they happen in front of me. The moments after the Bride and Groom came out of the Abbey presented me with this opportunity to capture the Bride kissing the Flower girl.

Managing the interaction between light and darkness can be a challenge. On this photo I've used just a little bit of flash to illuminate the glowing Groom as he looks over towards his new Bride.
This photo was taken inside Dunfermline Abbey which presents challenges as there are pockets of darkness and light from the windows. I've used a process called Direct Positive in Adobe Lightroom to bring out the saturation and the colours in the image

The Bride and Groom step out as Husband and Wife. The entrance to the Abbey is a stunning piece of architecture and provides an ideal frame for the image.

This image demonstrates why as a Reportage photographer I need to be alert for any opportunity. As I was taking the formal photographs I quickly noticed a fun moment between the bride and one of the guests.

Cutting the cake shots can all look a little 'same' for my liking. In addition to the 'standard shot' I always try to capture the event using something just a little bit different. Here I managed to get up high above the couple and shot down at an angle.

The speeches are a time when you don't get an opportunity to do any pre planned shots. I've always got to be alert and look for shots as they happen. In this one the Brides father is giving his speech while the Bride and Groom look on.

This shot was just a bit of fun before the evening reception took place. As the last rays of sunshine were shining I photographed the couple wearing their shades.

The first dance captures the happiness of the occasion and set the scene for a great evening.

Chicago, Illinios Wedding

While on a week away in Chicago Illinios, I was walking down Michigan Avenue on a Saturday afternoon when I quite literally bumped into a Bride and Groom walking down the street on route to their reception. As one of my main non wedding specialisms is street photography I've always got to react quick to any situation that presents itself. Commercial Work Published in Japan

It was a privilege to be asked by Pen magazine in Tokyo, Japan to contribute to their March 2009 article on Art Deco Architecture. The article looked at European architecture and focused on Barcelona, Paris and Glasgow as well as Amsterdam and Munich.

The photographs from the Glasgow School of Art are listed below. It was an honour to get to photograph the interior of one of Charles Rennie MacKintosh's architectural masterpieces.

Pen magazine is a publication aimed at affluent males in the 30-40 age group. In British Terms it's a cross between GQ and an architecture magazine.
